Trivia Night 2017 Brought in $4400 to Feed 32 Children this School Year!
About Snack Packs
Did you know 1 in 5 children in the U.S. routinely go hungry? Inadequate nutrition affects development and behavior. The effects can last a lifetime. 62% of U.S. teachers say they regularly see students come to school hungry.
Rural areas struggle with food insecurity just as much as cities do. More than 3 million rural households are food insecure. Households often survive on limited budgets and are confronted with choices between paying for food and paying for other essentials. These dilemmas can put households in the position of choosing between competing necessities.
The population of Clinton County is 37,891. 10.6% of the population, 4,030 of our neighbors are food insecure. Meaning they lack access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members. This is 1 in 10 children right here in our community. Your child most likely has at least 2 other classmates in their room that are hungry. We drop off weekend snack packs to New Baden elementary, Trenton Elementary, St Rose Elementary, Bartelso Elementary and to Wesclin Middle school.
Funds are still needed. To sponsor 1 child for the school year costs $135.
